Microsoft Office 2019 for Mac is now receiving a new beta release that brings support for Apple silicon. The beta release comes just ahead of the debut of the new MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, and Mac. When you test beta apps and beta App Clips with TestFlight, Apple will collect and send crash logs, your personal information such as name and email address, usage information, and any feedback you submit to the developer. Information that is emailed to the developer directly is not shared with Apple. The beta release of Office for Mac also comes just ahead of the debut of the new MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, and Mac mini that are based on the latest silicon. As announced by Microsoft’s principal software engineer for Apple products Erik Schwiebert on Twitter, the Universal build of Mac Office 2019 has been released on the beta channel.

Today Microsoft announced that it will launch a new Universal build of its Mac Office 2019 beta today that includes support for Apple Silicon.
Erik Schwiebert, Microsoft's principal software engineer for Apple products, shared the news today on Twitter. Schwiebert noted that the build was a sneak peek and did not say when support will launch for public users.

While Apple says in some cases x86 apps run on Apple Silicon through Rosetta better than natively on Intel Macs, that won't always be the case, and many users will want to know if there is official support for Apple Silicon, especially when it comes to critical apps.
